Do I need a doctor’sreferral?
A doctor’s referral is not necessary to see a physiotherapist in private practice, except for insurance involved cases such as Workers comp and CTP claims.
What will it cost?
You can expect to pay an initial consultation fee, and subsequent visits will incur a reduced standard consultation.
Certain people can gain access to Medicare rebates for up to five treatment sessions through the EPC program, Your GP will be able to assess whether you are eligible for this scheme. We generally bulk bill for Medicare referred patients and there are no gap payment. Privately insured patients can use their health fund through the HICAP system and obtain instant pay for the session however majority of health fund cover partial payment only and patient is left with gap to pay.
How long are the appointments?
Appointments are between 30 to 45 min depending on condition treated.
What should I wear?
Wear loose, comfortable clothing that will not restrict your movement. Ideally wear clothes that allow us to see the injured area (e.g. a singlet for neck and shoulder problems or shorts for leg injuries).
What to expect during initial consultation?
A thorough assessment will be undertaken to establish the history of your problem and how it affects your lifestyle this is followed by a thorough examination of the area, your posture, movements, joints, muscles and nerves. Finally treatment optioned can be discussed with therapist.You will also receive treatment in the first visit.
Should I bring anything else?
If you have relevant X-rays or other scans, bring them to assist in the assessment. If you are a Workers Compensation patient, you need to bring: A doctors referral, insurance company details
Do you have HICAPS?
Yes, bring along your health fund card for immediate claims, we can also accept cash or eftpos for the gap payment.
How many treatments will I require to attend?
Your This will vary depending on presenting problem, the physiotherapist will give you an estimate of the number of treatments required for your problem.
